If you have just started blogging about your business or you have been doing it for a while, it’s a good idea to make sure you’ve got these 5 blog posts on your site.  Why?  Because these blog posts talk about you, your brand, speak to your customers and help make sales.  Remember, we don’t want to blog all willy-nilly with no purpose.  We want to blog to educate our readers so they can know, like and trust us.  We also want to provide content that consumers and decision makers are looking for to help them make an informed decision to buy.

If you don’t have a blog yet or are thinking about starting one, great!  If you are interesting in starting your own blog, I can help you do it quickly and cheaply.  I have created a step-by-step tutorial on how to set up a WordPress blog in about 5 minutes.  And for a limited time, you can get web hosting service from Blue Host for as low as $3.95 a month, which is ridiculously cheap.  As an added bonus, you’ll get a free domain name ($15 value) through my Blue Host link if you purchase at least one year of web hosting service.  So you can save money by signing up for Blue Host and get started on your dream of starting a blog today!

So there’s a lot of stuff you need to have on your blog, but here are 5 blog posts you need to have on your blog.  It doesn’t matter what you’re blogging about or what your niche is.  If your blog is your business, then you need to write the following 5 posts.

1. The Trailer Blog Post About You and Your Business

Every blog, you should have an About or Bio page.  The Bio or About page tells about you, how you got started, your education, credentials and experience.  However, it’s also a good idea to have a blog post that details exactly what you do.  I call this the Trailer Blog Post.

I don’t know about you but I am a huge movie buff.  I love going to the movies and watching them on my couch.  Heck, I can sit for hours just watching that cable channel that shows movie previews for hours on end.  So, we are all familiar with movie previews or trailers.  A movie trailer is a 2-5 snapshot of what that movie is about.  Its purpose is to peak your interest and curiosity enough so that you’ll buy a ticket for that movie when it comes out.

Similarly, your trailer blog post shows your readers exactly what you do and (hopefully) gets them excited enough to work with you or invest in your products and services.  Your trailer blog post could be a simple as talking about a day in the life of your business or explaining how you help your readers.  The purpose is to give the reader a window in to see what it is that you do.  Also, it’s important to make sure you show readers how to buy your products and services at the end of this blog post.  Since you are talking about what you do, some people reading that blog post will want to take advantage of what you offer, so make it easy for them and show them exactly how they can become your customer.

2. The Statistics Blog Post

In this blog post, you will talk about the most important statistics in your industry, niche or area of research.  However, you want to highlight statistics that talk about issues and problems in your industry.  Why?  Because you want to show a need to your readers and emphasize how your products and services solve them.  Remember, your readers are seeking you out because they want you to solve their pain points, problems and fulfill a need.  So, use valid stats to highlight their need.

Here’s an example on how food bloggers specializing in quick, healthy meals, can use statistics in a blog post.  First, find stats about the alarming rates of obesity in America.  Better yet, find recent studies about how shifts in the economy and hours worked per week work lead to families eating together at the dinner table less frequently compared to several decades ago.  Show how this leads to eating unhealthy meals and ultimately obesity.  Next, highlight how you can help working moms create healthy meals quickly for her family after a long work day.

It’s expensive to live and raise a family.  Can I get a witness?  So, I help moms learn how to blog so that they can contribute income to their household.  I mean, if you’re a stay-at-home mom, it’s hard living on one budget.  Or if you are a working mom, many get a side-hustle to provide for extras like dance class, gymnastics or family vacations.  So it’s not enough just to blog about something.  To be really effective and helpful, know the issues in that industry and show how your blog can solve problems that your readers or those in your niche face.

3. The Customer Success Story Blog Post

Have you helped others solve a problem or become successful as a result of your products and services? Then blog about it!  People love reading about how others overcame obstacles, solved issues or gained success.  Why not show case studies of people who have achieved results using your products and services?

If you are not at the point where you have a customer success story, create a blog post saying you’ll do pro bono work to get more experience.  Have customers “pay” by filling out a before and after questionnaire or testimonial before the final rendering of services.  As a blogger, it can be challenging getting people to sign up for your eCourse or buy your services.  They may be wary of just taking your word that you can do what you say you can do.  But if other people have used you and think you’re great, your blog readers may be more than willing to try you out and give you a chance.  Whether you use testimonials or go the pro-bono route, they both are sure to bring in more customers to your blog.

4. The Q&A Blog Post

Become the authority on your niche or industry by allowing yourself to be perceived that way. Give your best answers to the top 5 questions to your readers and (potential) customers most burning questions.  And don’t be afraid to answer the “bad” questions that others may be too afraid to tackle.  If you want to become the go-to person in your field, industry or niche, this is a great way to get started.

Now, don’t be alarmed.  This is easier than you think.  You might be saying to yourself, I’m a fashion blogger or I blog about home decor.  There are no burning questions for me to answer.  Oh, but yes there is.  You readers want to know where you shop at if you’re a fashion blogger o if you blog about hair care, people wanna know the products you use to wash and style your hair.  Someone will always have questions about what you do and how you do it.  So, help them out and gain their trust by writing a Q&A post.

5. The “How To” Blog Post

What is the one thing people ask you how to do the most – as it relates to your blog? If you are a fitness blogger, are people always asking about how to flatten their abs?  Then make a blog post about exercises and diet tweaks readers can do to lose their mid-section.  Make sure you include clear steps that take readers from start to finish.  It’s also a great idea to include images of each step to help the reader through the process.  In general, “How to” posts tend to be popular Google searches and on blog posts.  Try writing one for your blog and see how well year readers respond to it.

Want to add even MORE oomph to these 5 blog posts?  Create a video for each of these blog posts, upload them on YouTube and embed them in corresponding blog posts.  Now, your readers can read, see and hear about you and your business which makes your story even more compelling.

Well, there you have it.  The top 5 blog posts you need if you are trying to make a buck off your blog. Please post in the comment section which one of these blog post ideas you are going to use the next time you blog.

How to Create Your Blog Content – 4 Things You Should Know

How to Create Your Blog Content – 4 Things You Should Know

First, before we delve into what to write about, let’s look at what content people read on blogs. It is important to understand why people read blogs and why they keep reading the same blogs over and over again. In general, people read blogs for two reasons:

  1. To be educated
  2. To be entertained

Think about the blogs you read. Are they cooking blogs that give new recipes each week? Or do they update you on the latest news in your neighborhood? If you really think about it, blogs keep you informed or entertain you in some way. Is the purpose of your blog to educate or entertain?

Second, think about who will be reading your content. I want you to get specific here. Write down a complete description of the people you are targeting to read your blog. For example, let’s assume you want to start a blog on pop star Justin Beiber. Right away, you can surmise that your blog readers will most likely be female, under the age of 20 and lives at home with her parents. Knowing who you are writing to will help you tailor your content to them.

Next, take a look at the top bloggers or blogs about your desired subject. Sticking with our Justin Beiber example, find out who are the top Justin Beiber blogs or bloggers. I’m not talking about Perez Hilton who blogs about all celebrities. Who is only blogging about Justin Beiber? Write down a list of them. What makes each blog unique? What is each blog doing that makes people come back each day or week to read more? These are the things you need to observe and note so you can incorporate into your blog.

Finally, find your niche or something that someone is not already blogging about. Do you see how you can give a fresh perspective or unique view of Justin that is not being covered? Maybe you can solely blog about Justin’s dog or his girlfriend. Think this idea is corny or won’t work? Wrong! There are blogs like this out there for celebrities that are enormously popular.

What I want you to take away from this blog post is that your blog has to be unique in some sort of way to distinguish it from the rest. Take some time and do your research on the most popular blogs on your topic. Find a way to separate yourself from the pack and you will definitely stand out.

Blogging: Can You Create Your Own Content?

Valentine Rock Stud Ballet Flats

This blog post assumes that you know exactly the topic that your blog will be about. If not, stop and decide that right now. This blog post won’t make any sense to you if you have no idea what you want to blog about.  Check out my blog post, “What Should You Blog About?  3 Easy Steps to Find Your Niche” if you’re really struggling about what to blog about.

So, now that you know what you are blogging about, you have to offer content on your website that appeals to readers and keeps them coming back on a consistent basis. If you don’t offer fresh, interesting content regularly, no one will visit your site.  Well, they might come to your site but may decide not to come back.  It’s easy to get someone to visit your site once. But can you keep them coming back every day or every week? Yes you can! How?  Great question!  You do that with your content.

You MUST be able to create your own content. A blog is not the place to repost what others have written. You must come up with your own ideas and be able to express them in a clear, concise manner on a regular basis. Okay, let’s do a quick exercise.  Get out a pen and paper and jot down the answer to these 2 questions.

  1. What can you write about without much thought or prompting?
  2. If someone woke you up suddenly in the middle of the night, what can you talk about for 15 minutes uninterrupted?

I gotta make a confession.  I love fashion.  I love looking at red carpets to see what the (what I call) glitterati are wearing.  I love watching fashion shows, reading the latest fashion mag and all that.  I love shoes.  I love clothes.  I love make-up and hair.  And did I say I love shoes?  I could look at shoes all day.  But guess what?  I couldn’t blog about that because there is no way I could create my own content for fashion.  I am not a designer, stylist or anyone connected to the fashion industry.   Therefore, I have no way to come up with unique content on fashion – nor do I want to.  So understand that just because you love something and are interested in it doesn’t mean you should blog about it.  Make sense?

Now, make no mistake, blogging every day or even once or twice a week is hard to do.   But if you can do it consistently on a schedule, then the results are worth it. So, as a blogger, you have to sit down and think about a few things. What can you write about consistently? What topic can you create your own content on a regular basis. What topic can you give fresh new insights and updates on regularly? If you can’t answer these questions, then you may want to reconsider blogging because your readers will be looking for this in your blog.

So, in the comment section of this post, answer one of the questions that I asked in this blog post.  Let me know what you can write about without prompting.

How to Become a Founding Member of Blogging 4 Bucks

Currently, I’m accepting founding members into the Project.  However, since founding members receive (1) lifetime access to the Blogging 4 Bucks site, and (b) private, weekly consulting calls for two months, I’ve decided to restrict the number of openings to 50 people. I simply want to ensure that everyone has a good experience and I don’t think I can do that if I’m consulting with over 50 members. Over 100 have expressed interest in becoming a founding member and I’m signing people up on a first-come, first-serve basis.

10 Creative Blog Post Ideas that Attract Customers

10 Creative Blog Post Ideas that Attract Customers

Let me help you come up with great ideas about what to blog about.

I’ve been blogging seriously for a few years.  One thing I know is that it can get tough.  It can be hard to figure out what to write about.  Sometimes I sit down in front of my computer and I just draw a blank.  If you have ever felt that way, then guess what?  Congratulations!  You are human.  We all go through that and it so normal.  But have no fear, I have created a list of blog post ideas to get your creative juices flowing.  Here is the list.  BTW, I’ve created a printable PDF copy of this list so you can print it out and keep in handy.  So whenever you need it you can just grab it and write.  Click the button below to get it.

  1. The History of ___________________.  Tell your readers the history of your industry or niche.  This is on the physiological tip because your goal is to be seen as an expert, leader and authority in your field or niche.  So, if you relay to them background information on your industry or niche, you will be automatically seen as knowledgeable in this space.  The more your readers see you as knowledgeable or a leader, they will come to you.  You will become the go-to person and customers and clients will come to you for information and buy your products and services.
  2. Make a video tutorial.  As I stated previously, your goal is to be seen as an expert, leader and authority in your field or niche.  Therefore, showing people how to create a new dish or do a new exercise for abs is very powerful.  And you don’t have to get fancy to make the video.  Just use your phone to make the video.  Upload it to YouTube and embed it in the blog post.  Viola!
  3. The Definitive Guide to _____________________________________.  One thing I preach is to educate your readers for free.  If you can do that well, you will make many customers.  So, take a topic in your industry or niche that really interests your readers.  I suggest checking the news and social media to find out what the current hot topics in your area are.  Then, create a guide for people to read.  Also people love guides and you are putting yourself in the position to be seen as an expert or authority in your field.
  4. How I can Help You.  This is a great way to talk directly to your readers.  Another thing I preach is that people will buy from you if you solve a problem, need or pain point they have.  So if you can help them in some way, you can make a buck.  So, write a blog post that describes 1 or 2 of your products and services.  The key is you need to show how your products and services can help your reader.  Cuz it’s all about the customer!
  5. 10 Random Facts About _______________________________ .  If you can shed a new light or give some rarely-known information or your industry or niche, readers will gobble that up.  As a blogger, you want to stand out and be unique.  As a result, try to find some little known, humorous or informative facts about your field and put them in a blog post.
  6. New ____________________________________________ (insert name of your industry here) Bloggers to Watch.  This is a great post to write because bloggers tend to help each other out.  As a general rule, you should frequent the top bloggers in your industry or niche.  You can become a popular blogger if a larger, more established blogger shouts you out on their blog.  So, this is a great way to connect with new, up and coming bloggers.  Or a good way to get noticed by those bigwigs.  Make sure to link back to the blog of each blogger you mentioned.  I am sure some of those bloggers will be grateful for the exposure.
  7. A Day in the Life of a _____________________ (insert your name or job title here).  People buy from people they know, like and trust.  So, in addition to showing yourself as knowledgeable in your space, you have to connect with them personally in some way.  What better way to do that than to invite them into your everyday life by showing them exactly how you do what you do.  It also a great way to show potential clients and industry partners who may want to work with you your work ethic, organization and management skills.  Plus, people love seeing what goes on “behind the scenes’.  So, give them a glimpse of that in your blog post.
  8. 5 Reasons Why I Love My Readers.  This harkens back to getting your readers to like, know and trust you – building that relationship with your reader.  And it truly is all about the customer.  As you blog more and more and create income, you will interact with your readers.  You help them with your products and services but tell how they helped you feel more fulfilled (or whatever) in your business.    This is a good time to talk about a customer success story or maybe just show out readers who frequently leave comments on your blog posts or social media accounts (i.e., Facebook page).
  9. Write about your favorite technology tool.  Here is an interesting concept.  People love to know the tools that successful people use.  They feel that if they have the tools that successful people use, then they too will be successful.  Look at the Jordan brand.  They don’t sell Michael Jordan meal plans or workouts, they focus on his tools – his shoes!  So if you show people what you use to do what you do (i.e., get your work done better, faster and cheaper online), chances are they’ll consider using it too. help them
  10. What’s Next in ______________________ (insert name of your industry or niche here).  People love to figure out what is going to happen in the future.  If this were not the case, astrology would not be a billion dollar industry.  People definitely love to read about what’s hot in an industry.  However, people also love to read about what is up and coming or on the horizon.  If you can get good at forecasting where your industry is going, you can create a strong readership.
