Welcome to my March 2018 income report.
This is my 3rd income report and as usual, I have learned a ton of information from tracking my income, expenses, page views, social media followers and more. I was able to see what worked well and what didn’t work at all. Each month, my income report allows me to reaccess my actions and determine how to move forward.
Why do I publish income reports every month? Good question! I publish income reports for two reasons. First, to keep myself motivated to surpass the previous month’s numbers. And secondly, to keep an accurate record of my stats. I have have always made money blogging. However, I have never been consistent in tracking my income. For a long time, I was just blogging. I wasn’t focused on making money and I didn’t know how. I was just kinda doing it for fun. But now that this is an actual business and provides income for me, I decided to collect results on a monthly basis to help me (and others) learn and grow.
Most importantly, I have decided to create income reports to inspire other bloggers and show that it is possible to have a successful and profitable blog. So many people come to me and ask how they can make money blogging. So I thought it would be a good idea to show tangible results.
In the business and blogging world, the end of March marks the end of the first quarter of the year. The year is split up into 4 quarters. More specifically, every 3 months is a quarter. From January to March is the first quarter. From April to June is the second quarter. From July to September is the 3rd quarter. And finally, from October to December is the 4th quarter. Many bloggers make goals, create products and plan launches for each quarter. So, you’ll also see my income reports for the first quarter of 2018.

WHAT I LEARNED THIS MONTH
Having a SKILL that Pays the BILLS!
I recommend that everyone have a skill that you can derive income from. For years, I have been creating websites and blogs for my clients and that has consistently brought in income month after month. I am very grateful for that. In all honestly, I have never advertised my web design skills yet I have never had any lack of work in that area. Initially, when I first started designing websites, all my clients were referred to me by word of mouth. I still get those type of referrals but now people also find out about me on my blog. So, if you have a skill, trade or license that allows you to do a certain type of work, by all means advertise it on your blog and use it to make money.
Pinterest Power: I Doubled My Pinterest Followers in One Month
One of my 2018 Pinterest goals was to get 1,000 Pinterest followers. Why 1,000? Well, in any social media platform, you need about 1,000 followers for legitimacy and to start to grow organically. So, ever since I started using Pinterest last year to get more blog traffic, I have been aiming for 1,000 followers.
My Pinterest followers jumped from 480 to 1004 in March 2018. In total, I gained 524 followers on Pinterest last month. In February 2018, I only gained 97 new Pinterest followers. So, this is the largest number of followers I have ever gained on Pinterest in one month. I attribute my dramatic jump in followers to the Pinterest strategies I learned in the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course. This month, I rewatched some of the training videos and really doubled down on implementing the strategies that are discussed in this course. Ands you can see in the increase of Pinterest followers, the results have been great.
Every day when I sit down at my desk to work, the first thing I do is track my social media followers on the accounts that I am focused on growing. I track all my social media followers once a month. However, I am currently focused on growing my Pinterest and Twitter accounts. Since I have reached my goal of 1,000 Pinterest followers, my next goal is to get another 1,000. I am estimating that by the end of May 2018, I will have over 2,000 Pinterest followers. As usual, I will keep you updated on my goals in my income reports.
I have said on my blog over and over again that Pinterest is the #1 driver of traffic to my blog. If you have a blog and you haven’t jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, it’s not to late to start. If you want to increase your blog traffic, I highly recommend that you sign up for the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course today. Just click the link below to enroll today.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK
Go With What Works
Each month, I check my page views in Google Analytics. In March 2018, I noticed that my page views have consistently decreased over the past 2 months. Last month, I noted that there was a slight dip in my blog traffic but I attributed that to the fact that February is a short month. And even though my traffic has remained steady, again I have experienced a slight dip in page views. Since this is becoming a pattern, I am set out to find why my traffic was having slight decreases two months in a row.
In review of my blog, my most popular blog posts are the ones dealing with diet and weight loss. The blog posts in those fitness categories account for more than half of my blog traffic. So, it is safe to assume that most people coming to my blog want to read my posts about health and losing weight. However, in March 2018, I did not write any new blog posts on those topics. So, in April, I plan to write more blog posts about losing weight to see if it has any effect on my blog traffic.
